Frankiewicz Collection (Hamburger & Schlessinger, 15 September 1930), lot 736. Michal's reign was marked by internal tension. Elected to the throne with the backing of the Polish nobility, who hoped his inexperience would make him more pliable, he was opposed to the pro-French camp, led by Jan Sobieski, who would ultimately succeed him.
