MM Trio: Military Medal (GVR in Field Marshall's uniform); British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 1913 Pte W.J.Stuart. 42/Aut:Inf: on first medal, 1913 L/Cpl W.J.Stuart 42 Bn. A.I.F. on last two medals. All medals impressed. Court mounted, missing clips for pins on reverse and with sticky tape for mounting on board, otherwise extremely fine.

Together with presentation fob in gold (9ct; 6.33g), reverse inscribed, 'Presented to/L.Corporal W.J.Stuart./No.1913. M.M. 42 Bat:/by the Residents/of/St. George & District'.

MM: LG 28/1/1918, p1404; CAG 27/6/1918, p1391, to 1913 Pte William Jack Stuart 42 Aust Infy Bn for bravery in the field.

Note: William Stuart advised Central Army Records Office on 09May1955 that his medals had been stolen from his house and requested replacements. The Military Medal was officially replaced by the Army Medal Office, UK on 02Mar1956 and the British War Medal and Victory Medal were also officially replaced on 19Jul1955.
