Group of Four: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. J.E.McFarlane A.B. on first medal, 128 J.E.McFarlane A.B. A.N. &. M.E.F. on second and third medals, N230201 J.E.McFarlane on last medal. All medals impressed. Display mounted, the first ribbon damaged, second medal with contact marks and third medal with an oxidation spot on reverse, otherwise fine - very fine.

Together with book titled, Australia's Bluejackets in German New Guinea 1914, by Lieutenant Colonel Neil C Smith, AM, Retd, published 2016, soft cover, 65pp with b&w photos and maps; also 3 b&w reproduced photos of unidentified Australians in German New Guinea.

Jack Evered McFarlane served in the navy with AN&MEF in German New Guinea where he contracted malaria. Unfortunately, according to the Department of the Navy, his record of service has been lost or destroyed. He applied to enlist in AIF on 29Aug1916 but was rejected as medically unfit. He also enlisted for World War II service at Kingsford, Sydney, NSW, now a licensed plumber aged 47 and served with Volunteer Defence Corps and was discharged at the rank of Sergeant on 07Sep1945 while posted to Signals Fixed Defence Battalion, VDC.
