[...]GLOR[...] [...EXERC...] Partly visible legend in Kufic; to right roman soldier standing front, head to left, holding spear in his left hand. Rev. [...]CON[...]AVG[...] Partly visible legend in Kufic with star in field to left. Repatinated and with an edge crack, otherwise, fine. From an American collection, acquired before 2011. This coin was overstruck on a Constantinian 'GLORIA EXERCITVS' follis. Overstrikes of Arab-Byzantine coins on Roman coins are well attested, dating mostly to the reigns of Mu'awiya I (AH 41-60 / AD 661-680) and Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan (AH 65-86 / AD 685-705).
