| Lot description: Russian Caucasia Armavir. City copper Pattern 3 Roubles 1918 MS62 Brown NGC, KM-PN4, Bitkin-2. Reeded Edge. A scarce Pattern piece from the only series of coinage struck during Russia's tumultuous civil war. Armavir, in the far-flung Caucasus, found an opportunity to assert independence while Russia was thrown into disarray. Although the region was subsequently annexed by the victorious Bolsheviks and absorbed into the Soviet Union, this short-lived series of tokens survives as a memento of that chaotic era.
