Lot description: SYRIA, Seleucis and Pieria. Uncertain Mint. Mid 1st century BC. (Bronze, 23 mm, 6.90 g, 1 h), Dated year 1 of the Pompeian Era = 64/3 BC). Draped bust of Herakles left, club over shoulder. Rev. LA (date) / PΩMHΣ Ram of prow to right, all within wreath. HGC 10, 381 (Gadara). Rosenberger 1 (Gadara). RPC -. Spijkerman 1 (Gadara). Very rare, of great historical interest and excellent for type! Somewhat rough, otherwise, good fine. The coin is dated LA/ PΩMHΣ = Year one of Rome. Unfortunately, no ethnic or ruler is mentioned.
