| Lot description: Phloros, hypatos, 7th century. Seal (Lead, 35 mm, 21.53 g, 12 h). Cruciform monogram of ΘЄOTOKЄ BOHΘЄI Eagle with spread wings standing left, head to right. Rev. ΦΛOP/OV VΠ/ATOV in three lines; above and below, cross. Seyrig 28. Cf. Zacos/Veglery 1591 (monogram on obverse, no eagle). A well preserved and unusually large seal for the period. Scrape on the obverse and with minor breakage at the channel mouth, otherwise, good very fine. From a European collection, formed before 2005. Starting price: 50 CHF |  |
