| Lot description: THRACE. Hadrianopolis. Julia Domna, Augusta, 193-217. Triassarion (Bronze, 25 mm, 9.58 g, 12 h). ΙΟΛΙΑ (sic!) ΔΟ CEBACTH Draped bust of Julia Domna to right. Rev. AΔPIANOΠΟΛEITΩN Nike advancing left, holding wreath in her right hand and palm frond in her left. Jurukova 246 (V139/R245). SNG Copenhagen 565. Varbanov 3427 corr. (obverse legend). Very rare. A lovely example, sharply struck and with a beautiful green patina. Thin flan crack, otherwise, extremely fine. From a European collection, formed before 2005. An interesting minor detail about this coin is the spelling error in the obverse legend, where the artist omitted the Y in the empress' name. Estimate: 500 CHF |  |
