Lot description: NABATAEA. Malichus I, 60-30 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 3.41 g, 12 h), Petra, RY 26 = 35/4 BC. Diademed head of Malichus I to right. Rev. 'mlkw mlk' mlk nbṭw' / L KC ('Malichus the king, king of the Nabataeans, year 26' in Nabataean and Greek) Eagle with closed wings standing left; to left, palm frond. Barkay 10. HGC 10, 679 var. (no palm frond on reverse). Meshorer, Nabataea 12 var. (no palm frond on reverse). Very rare. A darkly toned and well centered example. Light cleaning scratches, otherwise, good very fine.
