MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 440-430 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.23 g, 11 h). Lion right, attacking a bull collapsing to left with upraised head; in exergue, tunny swimming to left. Rev. AKA-N-ΘIO-N Raised quadripartite square surrounded by inscription; all within shallow incuse square. AMNG III, 2, -. Desneux -, cf. 95-102 (unlisted dies). SNG ANS -. Boldly struck and fresh, an exceptional example. Good extremely fine.
