Justinian I the Great (AD 527-565). AE follis or 40 nummi (43mm, 23.27 gm, 6h). NGC Choice VF★ 5/5 - 4/5. Nicomedia, 2nd officina, Regnal Year 13 (539/40). D N IVSTINI-ANVS PP AVG, pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust of Justinian I facing, wearing pendilia, with globus cruciger in right hand, shield decorated with horseman motif in left; cross in right field / Large M (mark of value); A/N/N/O to left, X/II/I (date) to right, cross above, B (officina) below, NIK in exergue. Sear 201. It is a tremendous piece featuring a perfectly centered strike on a massive 43 mm-sized jade green flan.
