EGYPT. Alexandria. Antoninus Pius (AD 138-161). AE drachm (33mm, 27.60 gm, 1h). NGC VF★ 4/5 - 5/5. Dated Regnal Year 8 (144/5 AD). AYT K AIΛ AΔP-ANTwNЄINOC CЄB ЄYC, laureate head of Antoninus Pius right / MЄNE-ΛAЄITHC, Harpocrates of Canopus (half human and half crocodile) left, wearing pschent crown, raising right index finger to mouth, cornucopia cradled in left arm; L H (date) in left field. Emmett 1819. RPC IV.4, 788. Scarce and high grade for the type. An appealing piece characterized by deep toning, accented with patches of rich terracotta hues.
