Late posthumous issue in the name and types of Alexander III the Great of Macedon, Egesimachus, magistrate. Head of Heracles right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied before neck / AΛEΞANΔPOY / HΓHΣIMAXOΣ, Zeus enthroned left, right leg drawn back, feet on ground line, eagle in outstretched right hand, grounded scepter in left; chelys (lyre) in left field, ME monogram in exergue. Price 1872. Extremely rare type with no other examples in sales archives.
