BITHYNIA. Cius. Ca. 280-250 BC. AR tetradrachm (29mm, 17.03 gm, 11h). NGC XF 5/5 - 4/5, Fine Style. In the name and type of Lysimachus (AD 306-281 BC), after 281 BC. Diademed head of deified Alexander III right, with horn of Ammon; dotted border / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ, Athena seated left, Nike standing left in outstretched right hand, transverse reversed spear between legs and leaning against right shoulder, left arm leaning on large shield with lion head boss; club downward in outer left field, ME monogram in inner left field, bow in bowcase left and ΔI monogram in exergue. Unlisted in standard references. Müller -. Thompson -. HGC 7, 555. No examples with the same field monograms in sales archives. A handsome portrait well-struck on an attractively toned piece that compliments the imagery.
