THRACIAN KINGDOM. Lysimachus (305-281 BC). AR tetradrachm (27mm, 16.98 gm, 11h). NGC AU 5/5 - 4/5, Fine Style. Lampsacus, 297/6-281 BC. Diademed head of deified Alexander III right, with horn of Ammon / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ, Athena enthroned left, Nike standing left in outstretched right hand, resting left arm on grounded shield decorated with lion head boss, transverse reversed spear beyond; HP monogram in inner left field, crescent left in exergue. Thompson 47. Müller 401. HGC 3.II 1750b. A breathtaking piece, characterized by an incredibly bold strike that sets all features in striking high relief. Crafted from magnificent dies, the work of an artist who devoted great care and meticulous attention to every detail, including the individual locks of hair.
