She was the wife of the Roman Emperor Gordian III. Very little is known about her early life, but she came from a prominent Roman family. Tranquillina's marriage to Gordian III took place around AD 241. Gordian III became the emperor at a young age, and Tranquillina assumed the role of empress. Her reign was marked by political and military challenges, including conflicts with the Sassanian Empire in the east. Tranquillina and Gordian III's rule faced difficulties, and the details are somewhat obscure. It's believed that Gordian III died in AD 244, possibly in suspicious circumstances. After his death, Tranquillina's status and influence diminished, and she disappears from historical records. Starting price: 50 EUR |
