| Lot description: PONTOS. Amisos. Time of Mithradates VI Eupator, circa 85-65 BC. (Bronze, 21 mm, 8.07 g, 1 h). Head of Amazon to right, wearing wolf's skin headdress. Rev. AMIΣOY Nike advancing to right, holding palm branch and wreath. HGC 7, 244. Malloy 38. SNG BM Black Sea 1218-9 var. (no star in crescent). Scarce without 'star in crescent' on reverse. Somewhat rough surfaces, otherwise, good very fine. The Amazon / Nike type of Amisos is usually encountered with a star in crescent on the reverse (recorded by Malloy as #40).
