| Lot description: Roman Imperial, Volusian, Sestertius - RARE Rare Sestertius of Volusian. Roman Imperial Volusian (251-253), Antoninianus 251-253, Rome mint Obverse: laureate, draped cuirassed bust right IMP CAE C VIB VOLVSIANO AVG Reverse: Concordia, draped, standing left, holding patera in right hand and double cornucopiae in left hand, S-C across the fields CONCORDIA AVGG Diameter 30 mm, weight 17.75 g Volusian was in his early twenties when Trebonianus Gallus, his father, became emperor. Shortly thereafter Volusian was made emperor as well. Before he could make much of a mark on history he as well as his father were killed by his own soldiers just prior to the battle against the forces of Aemilian.
