This coin commemorates the heroic action of two brothers of Catana, Amphinomus and Anapias, who at the eruption of Mount Etna saved their parents by carrying them to safety on their shoulders, persevering even as the lava approached them. Amazingly the lava parted around them and they survived. Their brave selfless act was celebrated as a model of filial devotion in Greek and early Roman culture. Estimate: 400 USD |
