Lot description: KINGS of PERGAMON. Eumenes II. 197-158 BC. AR Tetradrachm (31mm, 15.04 g, 12h). In the name of Philetairos. Pergamon mint. Struck circa 180-159 BC. Laureate head of Philetairos right / Athena enthroned left, resting on shield to right, crowning dynastic name to left; transverse spear in background, filleted thyrsos to outer left, anchor to inner left, bow to right. Westermark Group VII, obv. die CXLII; SNG BN 1634–5. Rough dark find patina. VF. Very rare with anchor symbol, four noted by Westermark, none in CoinArchives. Estimate: 150 USD |
