| Lot description: Ancients Hadrian (AD 117-138). AV aureus (19mm, 6.26 gm, 6h). NGC VF 5/5 - 3/5, edge smoothed. Rome, ca. AD 125-126/7. HADRIANVS-AVGVSTVS, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Hadrian right, seen from behind / COS III, Hadrian on horseback prancing right, cloak flying behind him, couched spear in right hand. Calicó 1226 (same obv. die). RIC II.3 773. This is the end result: Strikingly handsome, this specimen boasts an appealing portrait of Hadrian, further enhanced by toning that embraces and accentuates the overall imagery.
