| Lot description: Ancients Nerva (AD 96-98). AV aureus (19mm, 7.48 gm, 7h). NGC XF 5/5 - 3/5, brushed. Rome, AD 97. IMP NERVA CAES AVG PM TR P COS III P P, laureate bust of Nerva right, with aegis visible on left shoulder / CONCORDIA EXERCITVVM, clasped right hands. Calicó -. RIC II -, cf. 14 (bust type). This extremely rare coin is similar to Calicó 956 (laureate bust, with slight drapery on left shoulder), but upon closer inspection, it appears that Nerva is wearing an aegis; thus, it is unlisted. Also, this is the only example of the type in sales archives. A very distinguished portrait of Nerva graces this handsome piece.
