Vitellius (16 April-22 December AD 69). AV aureus (18mm, 7.43 gm, 7h). NGC VF 4/5 - 3/5, light marks. Spanish mint (Tarraco?), ca. January-June AD 69. A VITELLIVS-IMP GERMAN, laureate head of Vitellius left; globe below point of truncation, palm frond above point / VICTORIA-AVGVSTI, Victory flying left, shield inscribed S P/Q R in right hand. Calicó 576a. RIC I 34 and 38. Extremely rare. Delightful naturalistic portrait of Vitellius well-struck on a gleaming honey flan.
