Ancients
Galba (AD 68-69). AV aureus (18mm, 7.45 gm, 6h). NGC Choice VF 5/5 - 1/5, bent, edge marks, punch marks. Uncertain Spanish mint (Tarraco?), ca. April-late AD 68. SER•GALBA•IMP•CAESAR•AVG•P•M•TR•P•, laureate head of Galba right, globe at point of truncation / ROMA-VICTRIX, Roma standing left, with right foot on globe, helmeted and in military dress, branch in outstretched right hand, grounded scepter in left. Calicó 501a (same dies). RIC I 59. This boldly struck specimen features the very distinct portrait of Galba, presented on an appealing honey-toned flan.
