The reverse legend forms a complete sentence: "Since peace has been established for the Roman people on land and sea, he closed the temple of Janus." The legend first appears on aurei in 64 AD, so the closure of the temple apparently took place immediately after Corbulo's settlement with the Parthians in the preceding year, 63 AD..
