Sicily, Syracuse. Tetradrachm; Sicily, Syracuse; c. 415-413 BC, Tetradrachm, 17.47g. Tudeer-35 (o12 / r18; only one specimen, in Cambridge). Obv: Quadriga to right, driven by goddess holding reins and goad, who is crowned by flying Nike. The fourth horse raises its head. In exergue, wheel lying on ground; on ground line, in tiny letters, [EYAINETO], unclear on our specimen. Border of dots. Rx: ΣΥΡΑΚ[ΟΣΙΟΝ] Head of the nymph Arethusa left, wearing hooked earring and necklace. Around, four dolphins. Beneath the truncation, the artist's signature ΕV.
