Ancients
John V Palaeologus(?) (ca. AD 1341-1391). AE Unit (15mm, 0.76 gm, 12h). NGC Choice VF 3/5 - 2/5, edge chips. Uncertain mint. Crowned half-length figure of emperor facing, scepter in right hand, akakia in left / Short cross; pellet at the end of each arm, pellet in each quarter, all within diagonal border of four large B's. Sear -. DO -. PCPC 384 (Sub-Byzantine). Schlumberger, Sigillographie pl. XX, 24 (Rhodes). Extremely rare - only two examples in sales archives.
