Justinian I the Great (AD 527-565). AV solidus (21mm, 4.37 gm, 6h). NGC AU 5/5 - 4/5, clipped. Rome, 4th officina, AD 547-549. D N IVSTINI-ANVS PP AVG (AV ligate), pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust of Justinian I facing, wearing pendilia, with globus cruciger in right hand, shield decorated with horseman motif in left / VICTORI-A AVGGG Δ, Angel standing facing, grounded staff surmounted by staurogram in right hand, globus cruciger in outstretched left; star in right field, CONOB in exergue. Sear 291. Gorgeous perfectly centered piece with a light all-over amber toning.
