Caracalla. AD 198-217. AR Denarius (17.5mm, 3.18 g, 5h). Contemporary imitation muled with a reverse of Septimius Severus from Rome mint in AD 209. ANTONINVS PIVS AVG, laureate and draped bust right / [P M TR P X]VII COS III P P, Neptune standing left, foot on rock, leaning on knee and holding trident. Cf. RIC IV 319B; cf. RSC 529 (Septimius; for rev. type). Toned, some flan flaws, struck with worn dies, flan crack. Near VF. Many hybrids of this reign are known. This one is rare and previously unknown.
