| Lot description: EGYPT, Alexandria. Hadrian. AD 117-138. Æ Drachm (36mm, 26.59 g, 11h). Dated RY 15 (AD 130/1). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Hadrian standing left, holding scepter, greeted by Alexandria, clad in elephant's skin headdress, chiton, and peplos, holding two grain ears and kissing emperor's extended right hand; L IE (date) across lower field. Köln 1035; Dattari (Savio) 1611; K&G 32.508; RPC III 5777; Emmett 964.15. Brown surfaces, pitting, flan crack. Near VF. Ex J.P. Righetti Collection (Nomos Obolos 23, 12 June 2022), lot 34. An extensive series of billon and bronze issues commemorate Hadrian's triumphant tour of Egypt in AD 130.
