Lot description:

AKARNANIA, Leukas. Circa 320-280 BC. AR Stater (18.5mm, 7.99 g, 1h). Pegasos flying right, legs extended / Helmeted head of Athena right; to left, herm right, kerykeion, and Λ. Unlike the standard variety, where Pegasos is depicted mid-flight with its legs dangling, here Pegasos is depicted with its legs fully extended, as if it had just leaped into the air. Although Pegasi includes one of this variety among the four examples for type 102, clearly this version of Pegasos should be classified as a different type.
