Extremely Fine; graffiti in obv. and rev. fields.

This specimen is obverse die linked to two solidi Lacam attributed to an uncertain mint under Theodoric, as well as others which have appeared in trade or are in private collections (see references). The examples in Lacam are both struck from the same dies and bear a Δ officina mark which exhibits a "spur" at the base of the letterform. Lacam interpreted this as representing a double T monogram which he attributed to Theodoric (p. 901). The numerous officina letters linked to this obverse die however suggests that Lacam's theory is incorrect.
