LYDIA, Attaleia. Caracalla, with Geta as Caesar. AD 198-217. Æ (16mm, 2.26 g, 12h). Struck circa AD 198. Bareheaded, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla right, vis-à-vis bareheaded and draped bust of Geta left / She-wolf standing right, head left, suckling the twins Romulus and Remus. Hochard 79 (D20/R30); Kurth 63. Brown patina, light roughness, patches of green verdigris on reverse. VF. Extremely rare, only one known to both Hochard and Kurth, two more in CoinArchives.

The youthful and bareheaded busts, lack of titulature, and imperial reverse theme suggest this coin was struck very shortly after the elevations of Caracalla and Geta to Augustus and Caesar respectively in January, 198 AD.

Estimate: 150 USD
