Lot description: Marcus Aurelius. AD 161-180. Æ Sestertius (29.5mm, 21.60 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck AD 166. M AVREL ANTONINVS AVG ARMENIACVS P M, laureate head right / PACI/ AVG/ [S] C in three lines within wreath. RIC III –; MIR 18, –; Banti –. Brown patina, pitting, parts of the legends are weak. Good Fine. This reverse type is known for Lucius Verus (RIC III 1437). There is only one example known of that type, and it resides in the British Museum.
