Lot description: The Jonathan H. Kagan Collection of Ancient Greek Coins MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 478-465 BC. Diobol (Silver, 11.5 mm, 1.35 g). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet with a visor, hoop earring and necklace. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. AMNG III/2, 19. HGC 3.1, 389. SNG ANS 24. SNG Lockett 1290 = Tselekas Group D3, D23a (O D18/R D21, this coin). Attractively toned and with a rather 'mature' head of Athena. Porous, otherwise, very fine. From the Collections of Jonathan H.
