| Lot description: ANDRONICUS II with ANDRONICUS III, 1282-1328. EL Hyperpyron (4.14 gms), Constantinople Mint, 1297-1330. NGC EF, Strike: 2/5 Surface: 2/5. Scratches. S-2461. Obverse: The Virgin Mary standing facing within city walls with four towers; sigla to left and right; Reverse: Christ standing facing, crowning Andronicus II and Andronicus III kneeling to left and right. A nice example of this late Byzantine issue with uncommon legibility of the reverse legends. Estimate: $200 - $300 |  |
