| Lot description: Severus Alexander. AD 222-235. Æ Sestertius (32mm, 23.61 g, 12h). Rome mint. Special emission, AD 229. Laureate bust right, slight drapery / Severus Alexander seated left on curule chair set on platform decorated with bas relief; to left, Liberalitas standing left, holding abacus and cornucopia; to right, an officer and a soldier standing left, the soldier holding spear; to left, citizen mounting steps to platform. RIC IV 578; BMCRE 565; Banti 41/A (this coin illustrated). Brown patina, smoothing. VF. Very rare and an extremely rare variety with the platform decorated with bas relief.
