Lucius Caesius, 112-111 BC. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.86 g, 11 h), Rome. Draped bust of Vejovis to left, seen from behind, hurling thunderbolt with his right hand; behind, monogram of ROMA. Rev. [L•CÆSI] Two Lares seated right, each holding long staff in his left hand; between them, a dog; above, head of Vulcan to left with tongs behind. Babelon (Caesia) 1. Crawford 298/1. RBW 1140. Sydenham 564. Attractively toned. Struck from a slightly worn reverse die, otherwise, very fine.
