Lot description: KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 16.71 g, 1 h), Magnesia on the Maeander, circa 200-196. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, horse's head left above monogram of ΠΑI; below throne, monogram; maeander pattern in exergue. Price -, cf. 2049 (additional monogram to left and no monogram below throne). Apparently unpublished. Struck from a worn obverse die and minor edge cracks, otherwise, about very fine.
