KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.14 g, 12 h), Magnesia ad Maeandrum, 297/6-282/1. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated left, holding Nike, crowning the king's name, in her right hand and leaning with her left arm on shield decorated with lion's head; behind, transverse spear; to outer left, filleted race torch; in inner left field, monogram of ΠYPO. Müller 443 var. (slightly differing monogram). Thompson 115. Nicely toned and of fine style. Some edge scuffs, otherwise, good very fine.


From an American collection, privately acquired from Ariadne Galleries prior to 1982.
