LUCANIA. Metapontion. Circa 340-330 BC. Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 7.72 g, 6 h). Demeter to right, wearing wreath of grain ears, pendant earring and simple necklace, and with a light veil at the back of her head. Rev. META Ear of barley with leaf to right; above leaf, mouse; below leaf, Φ. HM Italy 1570. Johnston Class A, 8.10 (same dies). Well centered and attractive, with a beautiful rendering of Demeter. Struck from slightly worn dies and with minor flan faults on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
