Paeonia, Patraos. Tetradrachm; Paeonia, Patraos; c. 335-315 C, Tetradrachm, 12.10g. BM-4. Obv: Laureate head of Apollo r. Rx: Π[AΤP]AoY Horseman in crested helmet charging r., spearing fallen enemy carrying Macedonian shield. Ex Paeonian Hoard. Beginning and end of king's name legible.Obverse struck with worn die. While this was struck at same time as the previous Lot #306, this coin was done by a local die-engraver, who produced Apollo with an archaic almond-shaped eye. It is interesting to see the difference between die-engravers who worked together, but had different ideas. EF with luster
