Sabina. Sestertius; Sabina; Rome, c. 130-138 AD, Sestertius, 28.74g. RIC-2579 (R2). Obv: SABINA AVGVSTA - HADRIANI AVG P P Bust draped r. wearing single stephane, with unbraided hair piled atop head. Rx: PIETA[S AV]G on l. and r., S - C across field, Pietas standing l., extending her arms above a small togate male figure before her and a small draped female figure behind her. Ex Curtis L. Clay Collection; acquired from CGB, Paris, Nov. 2020. On this sestertius Pietas may look either left, as on our coin, or right, as on RIC pl. 187, 2579. This sestertius and the next one in the sale share the same reverse die, despite having different portrait types on the obverse. Bold Fine
