| Lot description: Hadrian. 40-as; Hadrian; 117-138 AD, Rome, As, 8.64g. Cf. RIC-446. Obv: [HADRIANVS] - AVGVSTVS Bust laureate r., with fold of cloak on front shoulder. Rx: PIE - AVG and S - C across field, [PONT] M[AX] TR POT - COS III on l. and r., Pietas standing facing, raising both forearms above altar at her feet. Ex Curtis L. Clay Collection; acquired from Barry Murphy, April 2003.
