BAΣIΛEΩΣ / YΣΠAOΣINOY Heracles, nude and bearded, seated l. on rock, his l. hand resting on the seat, holding in his r. hand club set on his r. thigh; in exergue, date •P (year 190 of the Seleucid Era). Note: Hyspaosinos was the son of Sagdodonakos. Being a former satrap of the Seleucids, he founded his own kingdom, choosing as capital the city of Alexandria-Antiochia by renaming it as Charax-Spasinou (probably in the neighbourhood of modern Basra in Iraq). He spent most of his reign fighting the Parthians in alliance with the Elymaeans and the Seleucids. He was followed on the throne by his son Apodakos. The types of the tetradrachms of Hyspaosinos were borrowed from the Seleucids (obv., cf. Demetrios I Soter) and from the Bactrians (rev., cf. Euthydemos I).
