Lot description: EGYPT. Antinoopolis. 2nd-3rd century AD. Tessera (Lead, 20.50 mm, 4.66 g). Dated year 2. Confronted busts of Antinous to left, draped and wearing hem-hem crown, and Isis to right, draped and wearing headdress, L B = year 2 of Antinopolis era = 131/132 AD, to outer left and right side. Rev. Personification of Nilus bearded and draped on hippopotamus advancing to left, holding cornucopia in the left hand and two grain ears in the right hand. Dattari (Savio) - ; Koln 3567-cor (Isis on reverse); J.G. Milne, Lead Tokens from Memphis,in Ancient Egypt (1915) p. 115 = Rostovtsev & Prou 665-6. Very rare.
