Hadrian (AD 117-138). AR denarius (19mm, 3.43 gm, 7h). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 4/5. Rome, ca. late AD 120-121. IMP CAESAR TRAIAN-HADRIANVS AVG, laureate head of Hadrian right / P M TR P-COS III, Hadrian seated left on platform, writing at desk before him; citizen ascends the front steps of the platform, holding out fold of toga, statue of Liberalitas stands facing in background, tessera raised in right, attendant standing left to right of platform, LIBERAL AVG in exergue. RIC II.3 312. Remarkably detailed and refined dies centrally struck to ensure maximum details of the depiction of a generous emperor are visible.
