Hormizd II's short but eventful reign was marked by his efforts to stabilize the Sasanian Empire after the turmoil caused by the rule of his father, Narseh. He attempted to strengthen the Zoroastrian faith and promote the Persian culture, but his reign was marred by conflicts with the Roman Empire. In AD 309, Hormizd II faced a rebellion led by his brother Bahram III, which ultimately led to his downfall.
