ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 510/500-480 BC. AR heavy-weight specimen tetradrachm (20mm, 17.54 gm, 8h). NGC Choice VF 3/5 - 4/5. Pre-Persian Class. Archaic head of Athena right, with frontal eye, hair in straight braids along brow line, wearing crested Attic helmet, bowl decorated with small spiral at base, crest box decorated with chevron pattern / AΘΕ, owl standing right with closed wings, head facing, olive sprig behind, all within incuse square. Asyut Group V. Seltman Group E. HGC 4, 1590. Iridescent blue, red, and violet toning perfectly accompany the bold profile eye. An impressive example in hand.
