ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 510/500-480 BC. AR tetradrachm (22mm, 17.40 gm, 9h). NGC Choice XF 3/5 - 4/5. Pre-Persian Class. Archaic head of Athena right, hair in curls along brow line, wearing button earring and crested Attic helmet, crest box ornamented with chevron pattern, bowl decorated with single spiral / AΘΕ, owl standing right with closed wings, head facing; olive sprig with two leaves and berry behind, all within incuse square. Asyut Group IV. Seltman Group G. HGC 4, 1590. Bright surfaces, a highly decorative owl, and a nearly full crest combine to make this a highly desirable coin.
